Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation at Plot 3, Temple Quay, Bristol, uncovered substantial structural remains of a barge dock and railway goods shed designed by Isambard Kingdom, Brunel, which opened in 1840. Remains associated with the infilling of the dock and rebuilding of the station in the late 1870s included walls and substantial dumps of kiln waste from the Bristol stoneware manufaturer Price and Co. Further waster dumps (painted and transfer-printed whiteware) were uncovered within deposits associated with the construction of the dock |
