Abstract: |
This excavation took place following a desk-based assessment (Tees HER Event 835), geophysical survey (Tees HER Event 836) and trial trenching at the site (Tees HER Event 896). The excavation revealed the remains of a medieval post-mill (Tees HER 8623), consisting of a cross-shaped foundation located centrally within a circular segmented ditch. The mill had a boundary ditch adjacent to it on the east side, and a large pit located immediately to the north west, which may have provided material for the mill mound, and was subsequently filled with rubbish. |
