Abstract: |
Headland Archaeology Ltd were commissioned by City of Edinburgh Council to undertake a programme of archaeological monitoring over the installation of a new gas main at Yardheads and Cables Wynd, Leith, Edinburgh. The excavations revealed structural remains of the Lochend Distillery, established on the site in 1825. Pre-modern features were limited to deposits of garden or backland soils preserved below the wall footings of the distillery. These limited excavations showed that there was good archaeological preservation in the area of the former distillery. |
