Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during the excavation of a trench ahead of the installation of a new information sign at Kinneil House. The site of the new signage was SE of the house, on the grassed area to the W of the curving footpath. A further concern was the potential presence of remains of the ditch of the Antonine Wall, the course of which is thought to run E-W close to the S face of Kinneil House. Although no artefactual remains were encountered during the works, it was interesting to note the sequence of landscaping which so often accompanies the development of large country house estates. |
