Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, acting on behalf of the University of Reading, to undertake a trial trench evaluation on land at Sibly Hall, University of Reading, Reading, Berkshire, centred on National Grid Reference (NGR) 474320 170680. The works were required in advance of the redevelopment of the Sibly Hall area. An assessment of the archaeological potential of the Site was required within the Site, although the area had suffered from severe truncation and disturbance associated with Sibly Hall, its associated buildings, car park and access road. The archaeological works involved the excavation of 12 trial trenches, undertaken from 4th to 7th November 2013. No archaeological features or deposits were revealed during the course of the evaluation. Due to the low level of archaeological features encountered during the evaluation it was agreed during on-site consultations with Berkshire Archaeology that no further archaeological investigation was warranted. |
