Abstract: |
An archaeological evauation and subsequent monitoring were carried out in advance of residential development. A large, irregular Iron Age feature was either one large pit or a combination of two intercutting features, such as a ditch and a pit. The partial remains of two brick wall footings of late 18th- or 19th-century date were recorded; they were probably the remains of former farm buildings shown on 19th and 20th-century maps. An east-west aligned ditch was probably the southern boundary of a former trackway, also depicted on pre-1960s mapping, whilst gravel surfaces were probably part of the track itself. |
