Abstract: |
An Archaeological Watching Brief was undertaken in two phases during Thames Water groundworks at Bellefield Road, Orpington. The watching brief monitored the excavation of five trenches designed to clarify the location of the water main, with a further 6th trench excavated to allow the installation of a pressure management device. The aim of the work was to preserve by record any significant archaeological deposits that were present, to explain any relationships between such features, and to relate them to remains previously recorded in the immediate vicinity. No archaeological features or evidence was observed, with natural deposits seen to be directly overlain by made ground or truncated by modern service trenches. |
