Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by CgMs Consulting on behalf of Bloor Homes to undertake an archaeological evaluation on land off Willington Road, Etwall, Derbyshire, NGR 427200 331300. A Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI, CgMs 2014) was prepared and was submitted to Steve Baker, the Development Control Archaeologist for Derby and Derbyshire, for approval. Evidence of ridge and furrow strip cultivation was found across the Site, with the entire Site contained within a single area of strip cultivation. This agricultural activity may be of medieval or post-medieval date. No other archaeological deposits or artefacts were identified, suggesting that the Site lay at some distance from any settlement. |
