Abstract:
Mitigation phase of ealier evaluation , (called 13 Bedford Street, Woburn during evaluation (albionar1-57003)), excavations by Albion Archaeology on land at Fox Close, Woburn, Bedfordshire revealed evidence of a 1st-2nd century Roman pottery workshop. This represents the first known Roman activity in Woburn and demonstrates that land within the extant town was settled almost a millennium earlier than previously thought. The remains of two kilns and a sequence of ditches, pits and enclosures represented several phases of activity.
