Abstract: |
Allen Archaeology Limited was commissioned by Mr Richard Peters to undertake an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching on land at 60 Reach Road in Burwell, Cambridgeshire as a condition of a planning application for a new two storey dwelling. The site lies within an area of recognised archaeological potential. An evaluation carried out by Allen Archaeology in an adjacent field in 2007 revealed evidence for later prehistoric and Roman activity as well as two late Iron Age burials along the edge of a former stream channel. A second evaluation in 2012 did not find anything comparable to the first evaluation. Two undated ditches cut the alluvial horizon and a modern posthole relating to a modern shed were also identified. The evaluation on 60 Reach Road uncovered three undated boundary ditches. |
