Abstract:
This report presents the results of an archaeological assessment for a single wind turbine, a temporary access track and a permanent access track and is located to the west of Camelford, south-south-west of Delabole. The project was carried out by Historic Environment Projects, Cornwall Council, for Mr R. Allingham. This report is the result of a desk-top study and walk-over survey. It identifies and evaluates the archaeological resource in the study area, considers its landscape setting using viewshed analysis and provides initial guidance on potential impacts and recommends further archaeological mitigation work. The historic character of the land within which the site is located has been classified as Anciently Enclosed. The area is already overlooked by a wind farm, and there is a single turbine less than 0.5km away. Historic Landscape Character analysis indicates the potential for additional, as yet unidentified archaeological remains to exist within the immediate vicinity. A series of recommendations have been made.
