Abstract:		 Samples were removed for dendrochronological analysis from two principal posts in the Summer Pavilion during repair work in AD 2003-4. Although both samples were considered suitable for analysis neither could be dated. Thus the analysis has not been able to provide a date of construction for the Summer Pavilion.
