Abstract: |
During August and September 2009, Oxford Archaeology East carried out an archaeological Excavation on the site of the former bus depot, Stukeley Road, Huntingdon. This excavation revealed the remains of structures, pits and ditches dating from the 12th to 14th century. The relatively short occupation of the site suggests it is linked to a rapid expansion of Huntingdon in the 12th and 13th centuries, before a well documented population collapse, following the Black Death. Finds from the site include animal bone, shell, pottery and various items related to craft industry; spindle whorls, fibre processing spikes and iron knives. |
