Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment. The assessment found that there are no designated heritage assets at the study site, while within the wider study area is a Scheduled Monument, 'Dewley Pits', which comprises a group of post-medieval coal workings and associated transport routes, mostly to the south-west of Black Callerton village. In terms of non-designated heritage assets, the core of Black Callerton village appears on the Historic Environment Record and is considered an 'area of archaeological interest' by the Local Planning Authority due to its known medieval origin. In addition, most of the inhabited buildings within the village appear on the Historic Environment Record, as do the derelict remains of a range of likely post-medieval buildings within the central eastern part of study site. |
