Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the redevelopment of a site at Greywood, Coombe Hill Road, Kingston Upon Thames KT2 7DU. The archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd. between 13th and 14th May. The site comprised a rectangular shaped strip of land bordered to the south east by Coombe Hill Road, to the north by open land, and to the east west by single residential housing plots. During the evaluation three trenches were opened. All three trenches measured 10m x 1.8m. The trenches were so placed as to occupy the footprints for the proposed residential units. 1.4 Trenches 1 and 2 revealed nothing except for the sequence of the top and sub soils before exposing the underlying natural clay geology. In Trench 3 a modern tree-throw was excavated. Nothing else was found. |
