Abstract: |
The work was carried out in response to planning conditions attached to the Listed Building Consent (Ref: 13/AP/1716) and planning permission (Ref. No: 13/AP/1714). It established that the present building dates from the late 18th to early 19h century, built as a shop and later re-fronted and extended during the early and mid 19th century by the drapers, Messrs Pole and Maylard. The building retained no structural evidence of the Spur Inn, a 16th century Inn thought to have once occupied this site. Research for this project found that the inn occupied a site nearby. |
