Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation consisting of a single trench. No discrete features or deposits relating to the prehistoric, Roman, Saxon, or medieval periods were encountered during the archaeological investigation. The presence of a thick layer of redeposited clay overlying natural sand and gravel was considered to have represented the base of a 19th century filtering bed. The redeposited clay layer was succeeded by masonry elements of a late 19th century water works building. |
