Abstract: |
A monitored was carried out during topsoiling in advance of quarrying. No archaeological features or deposits were identified despite the results of an earlier phase of evaluation where potential archaeological features were recorded as possible linear ditches. Features in three of the trenches were aligned east to west and were interpreted as sections of possibly the same feature, whereas the other two features displayed different alignments, although their fills were similar, and were interpreted as sections of different features. Given the results of the monitored strip it is considered that these features probably represented isolated features rather than linear features running over any distance. |
