Abstract: |
A monitored strip was carried out during groundbreaking works for the construction of a garage to the north of 3 Inveresk Village Road, Inveresk. The proposed development site was located close to several scheduled Roman sites and within the boundary of the Inventory Battlefield of Pinkie. Accordingly the area was regarded as being of potential archaeological significance. Groundbreaking works were limited and no significant archaeological features were revealed. A further watching brief took place during construction of a new house extension within the same property. Trenches were excavated within an 8m by 6.5m area to a depth of 0.6 to 0.8m. No archaeological remains or deposits were encountered throughout the watching brief. E MacNeilage 2015 |
