Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation at Land off Barnsley Road, Wath-upon-Dearne, has revealed the remains of the medieval moat and probable associated buildings in four trenches, although it is unclear if the structures date from the late 11th century medieval manor or the later medieval vicarage of c.1410. Dating evidence for these structures has so far been limited. The survival of foundations and associated deposits confirms the tentative geophysical survey interpretation. Excavation continues at the time of writing. The remaining nine trenches did not contain any archaeological features or deposits. |
