Abstract:		 The building known as the Riding House is an early 17th century range set on the southern side of the home farm complex associated with St Giles House, the seat of the Earl of Shaftesbury. The report finds that the building was in fact constructed as a stable block in 1616-18. The attribution as a riding house stems from the RCHME Dorset survey but appears to have been a misidentification.
