Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 2 hectares of lawn and gardens at Shendish Manor Hotel, Hertfordshire. Linear anomalies possibly caused by paths or former wall layouts within the landscaped gardens have been identified, along with amorphous anomalies that may be related to former structural features within the garden. Further areas of amorphous magnetic variation may be natural in origin or may be representative of the locations of former trees or areas of planting. The remaining features are all modern or natural in origin and include a buried service, such as pipe or cable, magnetic disturbance and debris related to a bowling green, areas of scattered magnetic debris, magnetic disturbance and spikes that are likely to be modern rubbish. |
