Abstract: |
As part of the works carried out to install Wi-Fi cabling to the Middle Tower at the Tower of London, an archaeological watching brief was carried out to monitor the excavation of two small trenches either side of the threshold of the northern turret of the Middle Tower. The purpose of this work was to ensure that the fabric of the 13th century Middle Tower building sustained no damage and to record any possible traces of archaeologically significant features. A potential Medieval floor surface was observed on the internal side of the threshold and on the external side of the threshold the remains of a Medieval drain structure were uncovered. |
