Abstract: |
Following receipt of a heritage statement (CgMs 2013) and geophysical survey report (NA 2013), outline planning permission was granted by the Borough of Wellingborough for a large-scale residential and commercial development on land south of Main Road, Earls Barton, Northamptonshire. Field evaluation was undertaken by Albion Archaeology. Forty-one 50m-long trial trenches were opened The field evaluation located a late Neolithic/early Bronze Age ring-ditch and two Romano-British settlements. Of less significance were numerous furrows in the western and central part of the development area, indicating the existence of medieval open fields, and a small number of post-medieval or modern features were also identified. |
