Abstract:		 Allen Archaeology Limited was commissioned to undertake an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching on land off Leicester Road in Lutterworth, Leicestershire prior to the submission of a planning application for a residential development. A desk-based assessment and a geophysical survey by magnetometry has previously been undertaken for the site and the trial trench evaluation is intended to supplement that document in order to further determine the archaeological potential of the site. The archaeological evaluation did not reveal any archaeologically significant deposits or features and pottery was found which spanned a large period from the Roman to Post-medieval periods. The evaluation showed evidence of agricultural features, namely ridge and furrow and land drainage systems.
