Abstract: |
Archaeological mitigation by excavation and intermittent watching brief were undertaken at a site off Radford Street, Sheffield. The site comprised a predominantly demolished social club and associated disused car park at the time of the fieldwork. Cellars, outbuildings and walls were exposed at the north-eastern end of the site within the excavation area (Area 1). The St Phillip's Social Club, constructed in the 1930s, appears to have severely truncated any potential earlier remains at the south-western end of the site, although one cellar structure was recorded within the watching brief area (Area 2). The remains are considered to be of local archaeological significance. |
