Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 6.1 hectares of arable farmland. A former enclosure and associated backfilled pits have been identified, and are likely to be related to former settlement activity. Further possible pits may be archaeological in origin, though may also be related to the underlying geology of the site. A linear anomaly is of possible archaeological origin, but may also be related to agricultural activity. Evidence of modern ploughing and a former field boundary suggest a more recent agricultural past. The remaining features are modern in origin and include an underground service, magnetic disturbance from nearby ferrous objects and magnetic spikes. |
