Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned to undertake an archaeological assessment of geophysical survey data as part of the heritage impact monitoring process implemented for aggregate extraction Area 430. The assessment consisted of a review of sidescan sonar and multibeam bathymetry data acquired by GEOxyz in 2014. In total 20 anomalies from the 2014 geophysical survey and previous investigations have been identified as being of possible archaeological potential within the Archaeological Study Area, eight of these are located within the aggregate licence area. No new mitigation strategies have been recommended for the area, though it is suggested that the present Managed Dredging Zone and Archaeological Exclusion Zones remain in place. |
