Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at land off Sycamore Close, Stockton, Warwickshire (NGR SP 432 636). It was undertaken on behalf of Taylor Wimpey Midlands, who intend residential development of the site for which a planning application is in preparation. Prior to the evaluation, a geophysical survey of the site was carried out. This survey identified the presence of furrows, the remnants of strip field agriculture crossing the majority of the site, some large linear features in the north of the site, a possible track-way and backfilled pond in the central part of the site and a number of weak anomalies in the south of the site which were interpreted as ditches. The evaluation trenches targeted anomalies identified as potential features by the geophysical survey, as well as a number of negative areas. |
