Abstract: |
Lane Close Mill was established by Samuel Dracup in about 1840 as a worsted mill, and expanded during numerous episodes, though parts of the historic structure were demolished in the 1980s. Dracup was prominent as a manufacturer of Jacquard-looms and related textile equipment, but to what extent these premises were used for this purpose, in addition to worsted production, is unclear. |
