Abstract: |
In advance of a proposed extension to Barnsdale Bar Quarry (SE 5122 1496) in a field situated to the north of the existing quarry workings an archaeological evaluation, consisting of geophysical survey and trail trenching, was undertaken by York Archaeological Trust for FCC Environment. The evaluation trenches confirmed a number of ditches relating to field/boundaries, an enclosure and a probable track-way indicated by the results of the geophysical survey. Although undated these features are consistent with prehistoric and Romano-British features highlighted in the DBA. |
