Abstract: |
Two test trenches were excavated in the west bastion of Fort Charlotte. Structural cracks and voids had been noted within the N and W walls of the bastion and it was proposed that two test trenches should be manually excavated in order to ascertain the cause of the problem by examining the make-up of the ground and the nature of the wall itself. This phase of work is part of an on-going system of investigation and repair at the fort which has seen the examination and resolution of problem areas within the other bastions, mainly those to the N and E. |
