Abstract: |
The Norman's Bay Wreck is still being researched and recorded by the NAS with new finds being made every year. The site plan is an ever evolving view of the assemblage on the seabed. The first site plan was created by Wessex Archaeology during their undesignated site assessment visit in September 2005. This plan was published in their 2006 report for English Heritage as part of the contract for Archaeological Services in Relation to the Protection of Wrecks Act (1973) (Wessex Archaeology 2006a). All subsequent visits by both Wessex Archaeology and the NAS have used this site plan as a basis for their surveys. The methodology employed to generate the 2006 plan involved the use of a GPS diver tracking system allowing an accurate position to within one metre (Wessex Archaeology 2006a: 3). The level of accuracy from this GPS system has been relied upon for all subsequent diver surveys. |
