Abstract: |
CFA Archaeology Ltd carried out a watching brief at Stanford Hall, Nottinghamshire in advance of the Hall and grounds being converted to a new Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre. The Hall itself is a late 18th Century building, and has gone through several phases of redevelopment, including a period as the Co-operative College, and redevelopment as a hotel in the early 21st Century. A pair of shallow post holes were discovered in front of the hall containing late Neolithic / early Bronze Age Pottery. Nearby were two undated linear ditches of probable prehistoric date. Other features revealed were related to the landscaping activities undertaken during 18th-19th centuries. |
