Abstract: |
AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by Cala Homes Ltd to undertake an archaeological evaluation on land at Friarsfield Road and Kirkbrae, Cults, City of Aberdeen (NGR: NJ 88889 03599). The development encompasses four fields currently used as pasture. In total a 10% evaluation was required totaling some 5,919 linear meters of evaluation trenches. A total of 4,506 linear meters was achieved due to the presence of unmarked live services, ground slope and mature trees. Trenches placed within Field D provided evidence for modern horticultural activity in the form of ground leveling and soil importation. Truncated modern brick foundations associated with greenhouse buildings were also revealed. All four fields revealed modern plough truncation with numerous stone drags and scars. No significant archaeological features or material were identified. |
