Abstract: |
Archaeological recording took place on a site documented to have been in use during the post-medieval period as a dye works and later a foundry, that lie close to and over the Higher Leat, that is documented as being present since at least the early 13C. Historic building recording identified that the structures on the site probably dated from the 17th or early-18th century through to the 20th century. No below-ground evidence for the dye works was identified but some remains of the foundry survived, as did the culverted Higher Leat, where its current stone walls dated from the 18th century. |
