Abstract:
Wessex Archaeology (WA) has been commissioned by CgMs Consulting, ('the Client)' to undertake a programme of historic building recording at the former Pershore Cottage Hospital, Pershore, Worcestershire centred on Ordnance Survey National Grid Reference (NGR) SO 94856 45362. Pershore Cottage Hospital is not a designated listed building, but is located with the Pershore Conservation Area, and identified within the Conservation Area Appraisal as an unlisted building of local interest. A planning application is currently under consideration by Wychavon District Council (Ref: W/15/01638/PN) for the demolition of the existing former hospital building and the redevelopment of the site to form 23 sheltered apartments for the elderly including communal facilities, access, car parking and landscaping. In response to the proposals, pre-application advice from the Historic Environment Advisor (HEA) at Worcestershire Archive and Archaeological Service (WAAS) to Wychavon District Council was that the following condition be imposed prior to the demolition works:
