Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out on 23-24th May 2018 during the soil strip in preparation for the construction of 3 flats; the weather was hot and sunny throughout. The area of the flats was cleared to natural subsoil; the soil was a dark grey brown garden soil up to 1.1m deep and the natural subsoil was rusty brown gravel which sloped N to S. No archaeological finds or features were identified apart from recent pits for planting and burying 20th-century china and bottles which tallies with the area being a garden since this area of the town was developed. |
