Abstract:		 The Heritage Network was commissioned by developers to carry out preliminary works to assess the archaeological potential of the site. The study area comprises an open arable field bounded to the west and north-west by residential properties and to the east and south by open fields on the east side of Buntingford, to the south of Hare Street Road, centred on NGR TL 536700 229200. Following geophysics and initial evaluation a further series of twenty-three trial trenches were excavated to increase the sample ratio from 1% to 5%. The U-shaped enclosure in the site centre was confirmed, with late Bronze Age to early Iron Age pottery in some of the upper fills. Other ditches in the vicinity contained post-medieval pottery.
