Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was maintained on the groundworks pertaining to erection of three new residential dwellings. Within the area of House Plot 1, the line of a north-south orientated probable undated boundary ditch along with an undated east-west aligned gully were identified. Within the area of House Plots 2 and 3, four undated pits and a further small pit or posthole were identified. The other finding comprised a deposit sequence consisting of a topsoil/garden soil horizon, an undated buried soil/ploughsoil horizon and a natural horizon. Two sherds of post-medieval pottery and a clay pipe stem fragment were recovered from the topsoil horizon. |
