Abstract: |
Test pit excavation in the back garden of a property in a cul de sac near the summit of Bowden Ridge, the long hill which separates the town of Market Harborough from the village of Great Bowden. 63 sherds of Roman pottery were recovered, 32 tesserae, 10 pieces of Roman tile and some animal bone including two bovine skulls (one elderly and one younger slaughtered animal). A few pieces of oyster shell were also found. The only other pottery finds were a few sherds of medieval and post-medieval pottery and some modern sherds. |
