Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report Abstract:	Longtown and District Historical Society successfully applied for a Heritage Lottery Grant in order to run a community project, researching the historic and archaeological development of Longtown and Ponthendre Castles over three years. Herefordshire Archaeology was contracted to undertake and manage all aspects of the archaeological works which include field survey and two seasons of excavation, with the involvement of the local community, schools and other interested groups. Both castles were subjected to Structure from Motion 3D scanning by Drone. Ponthendre was subjected to additional earthwork survey in order to record profiles of rampart and ditch.
