Abstract: |
No features nor finds of archaeological interest were present. It is likely that this absence is due to the levels of disturbance on the site, with 20th-century demolition rubble and fill still present 2.5m below local ground level. The site is considered to have low archaeological potential as a result. The evaluation uncovered walls related to the buildings that have been recently demolished as well as further fragments of walls and surfaces, likely related to the former workhouse that existed on the site before the school. One drystone wall may be of an earlier date still, but there were no clear stratigraphic relationships and no dating evidence was recovered. |
