The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 An archaeological survey involving the interpretation, mapping and recording of archaeological sites from aerial photographs and lidar of 193 km2 of southwest Dorset and southeast Devon, centred on the Marshwood Vale. The survey used Historic England's National Mapping Programme methodology. The project was a rapid baseline survey enhancing understanding of the Marshwood Vales historic assets. By recording directly into the Devon and Dorset HBSMR databases, the results were immediately available to facilitate assessment of their significance and permit effective management of the resource. The project provided a significant enhancement to existing baseline data with 1655 archaeological sites recorded of which 1534 were new, previously unrecorded in the Dorset and Devon Historic Environment Records (HERs) or the National Record of the Historic Environment (NRHE) curated by Historic England. The majority of the new sites dated to the medieval and post medieval periods.
