Abstract: |
Rapid walkover survey using a GPS, to assess the woodland's potential to contain well-preserved archaeological features. The wood was walked in transects aligned roughly N-S, approx 50m to 100m apart. The survey is only a sample of the woodland and should not be taken as exhaustive, or its results as definitive. Features recorded included field boundaries, a charcoal burning platform, platforms, woodland boundaries, drainage ditches, a bridge, and possible industrial features. |
