Abstract: |
Archaeological trial trenching took place on land at Attley Way, Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire. Five trial trenches (270.5m in length) were excavated across the site and these contained eight features. Only two Roman pottery sherds were recovered including one from a feature and a small quantity of animal bone was also found. Five shallow features, all aligned north-west to south-east, are likely to have been furrows. One undated ditch in the southern part of the development area was aligned at a different orientation, but it is uncertain its age or function. The other undated possible features comprised a 8m wide and 0.55m deep possible spread and a tree bowl. |
