Abstract:		 A programme of archaeological works was required for Sundial Properties (Gilmerton) Ltd in support of the residential refurbishment works at Bell's Brae, Edinburgh. These properties, facing onto Millers Row, stand within the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh World Heritage Site and within a townscape rich in listed buildings. The archaeological works are designed to mitigate the impact on the historic environment to the agreement of City of Edinburgh Council Archaeology Service, who advise the City of Edinburgh Council. City of Edinburgh Council Archaeology Service has specified that the developer shall secure the implementation of an archaeological watching brief on any groundbreaking and development work through an appended condition (PAN 2/2011, SPP, SHEP). They have provided guidance on the structure of archaeological works required on this site during development. All works and reporting will comply with City of Edinburgh Council Archaeology Service's standards.
