Abstract: |
A scheme of works in conjuction with flood alleviation works. The tasks comprised the excavation and recording of a WWII Spigot Mortar gun emplacement, the excavation of five test pits across two medieval saltern mounds, the strip, map and record of two areas, a trench through an old sea wall and WWI POW road and archaeological monitoring of two pond connector trenches. No archaeological resource was identified in the SMR or the pond connector trenches. Laminate deposits relating to the 'sleeching' process of salt production were recorded in all five test pits. |
