Abstract: |
The mid- 19th century steading was a long narrow single storey range with rubble walls and a corrugated iron roof. Cobbled floors and wooden trevises indicated the former position of a 2-horse stable and a byre with four double tied-cow pens. At one end of the buidling there had been a cart bay and, at the other a small barn with a blocking indicating the former position of a horse mill. Broombank had been part of the Cromar estate of the Earl of Aberdeen and extended to a total of just over 36 acres including 32.5 acres of arable and 3.4 acres of pasture. |
