Abstract: |
Hill Croft Brathens was part of the Leys estate and extended to a total of about 6 acres. It was a fairly typical small rectangular croft steading for this area of Aberdeenshire, with rubble stone walls and a slate roof. Few internal features survived but the traces of pens and drainage indicate it was used for livestock- possibly in the 1930s it may have housed the pigs from the croft that are referred to in newspaper accounts of livestock markets. |
